- I'm stunned and amazed that a flight was diverted -- costing thousands, maybe up to a million, for the airline, to say nothing of the lost time for the passengers -- and nobody was charged with anything. At the very least, the couple should have been charged with disorderly conduct.

- Actually, that's not true. The employer can state that it does not want to pay, and that may delay benefits temporarily, but there will be a hearing to decide and (at least in my state) the employee almost always wins.
